With the end of the year creeping up on us there's going to be plenty of parties and events to get dressed up for. Here's a basic party face to try out or to use as a starting point to create your own look. If you're feeling bold try experimenting with bright colours for an extra fun look!
REMEMBER TO CLEANSE AND MOISTURISE BEFORE MAKE UP APPLICATION!!
BASE FOR EYES
This is the most important part - if you perfect this your eye shadow won't crease or smudge, and you'll stay looking fabulous for hours!
What you need:
- Concealer or a thick crème foundation
- Pressed face powder
- Clean Make Up sponge
What to do:
Using your finger, pat a small amount of concealer underneath your eyes and smooth it on. Be gentle! The skin around your eyes is very soft. Do the same to your eyelids, thinning out the concealer as it heads up towards your eyebrows. Be sure not to get any in your eyebrows!!
With your clean sponge apply a generous amount of powder over the concealer onto your eyelids (don't powder under your eyes).
FOUNDATION
Apply foundation as normal (see last month's article - "The Natural Look"). Using your sponge blend your foundation into the concealer under your eyes so there are no lines or edges. Then, lightly powder your whole face using a powder puff or powder brush.
EYES
This is the fun part!!
What you need:
- 2 clean eye shadow applicators (these can be brushes or foam, whichever you prefer)
- Eye shadows - one matte colour and one shimmer

What to do:
Apply the matte colour to your entire mobile lid (see glossary!). Then, using a clean applicator, (if you're using the disposable foam ones grab a new one. If you're using a brush you can just clean it off with a tissue) blend the colour up to soften the edges.
TIP: If your eye shadow is not blending easily and the edges look patchy, try using a light, natural eye shadow or even your pressed face powder to help smooth the edges out.
Using a clean applicator pat the shimmer eye shadow over the top of the first colour. You can take this colour out a tiny bit further than the first, as it will be a less intense colour and should blend easily. Blend it out to soften the edges.
TIP: To avoid you eye shadow falling and ending up all over your cheeks (not a good look!) try patting a generous amount of loose face powder onto your cheekbones. The eye shadow will fall onto this, and when you're done dust the whole lot away with your powder brush.
This is the basic look done, and to this you can add eyeliner, mascara, and highlights as desired!

LIPS & CHEEKS:
As the eyes are the feature in this look, it's a good idea to keep everything else fairly subtle so you don't look too "overdone" (check out last month's article for basic cheeks and lips).
A little shimmer on the cheek bones and plenty of gloss will add the perfect amount of glamour!
ENJOY YOUR CELEBRATIONS!!!
Remember the most important thing is that you feel comfortable. Use these tips as a guideline only, and adapt them to your own make-up style.
For those of you that love colour, get creative with your colour combos!
